'The beach at Aghios Ioannis' - Attribution: Agios Ioannis is a small tourist village in the southwest of the island, 2.5 km from Ornos. It is built amphitheatrically and located across from Delos, combining natural beauty with excellent tourist accommodations. Pink and purple flowers drape the stairways and balconies of the white houses. The lovely sandy beach of Agios Ioannis with the crystal clean waters took its name from the church that is located here. It is organized and ideal for families with children. The beach is recommended for those who want peace and relaxation. You'll also find a plethora of diverse restaurants, taverns with tasty Greek food and abundant opportunities for water sports, ranging from scuba diving to surfing in turquoise waters. Close proximity to the nearby villages allows for opportunities to traverse the streets, to admire the classical architecture, or to enjoy a picturesque view of the nearby Delos island. Scenes from the 1989 movie 'Shirley Valentine' were filmed in Agios Ioannis. A lot of hotels near the sea offer visitors all the amenities they might need. The choice is yours!

Worth visiting is the feast of St. John at the end of September, which is very famous and the food is great! You can drink the juice of meat in glass (it's better than it sounds), which is not customary in other islands and taste the traditional onion pie. To sweeten your mouth eat the traditional candies with grated almonds. When the moon is up you can dance with the locals and feel like an original Mykonean! Then take a stroll to the nearby flea market and buy whatever you like.
